I picked up a school catalog at school, and have always had an interest in law; but never gave it a second shot. I have an interest in all the courses that the catalog mentions lawyers should have, many of them, I've taken from self study books, the dummies series, the DIY stuff. How do I get from a school with a low GPA, to a law school?

Law school is a graduate degree in the US. You need a Bachelor's degree first.

The good news is that law schools don't look at your high school grades.

The bad news is that they do look at your college grades -- so you have to do well when you get to college. You still have time to turn you life around.

In order to get into law school you need to have your bachelors degree first. If your gpa is too low to get into a state school start off doing some basic general classes at a community college, then after a year transfer to a state school. Look at political science as a major, because most law school students will have politcal science degree. Your junior year start preparing for the LSATs and looking into what law schools you want to apply to. As long as you get over a 3.0 in college you'll be okay when applying for law school.

The only way for you to get to law school is through a great college. Since your GPA is low, you'll need to begin with Junior College and graduate with a high GPA. If you do that, then you might be accepted in University which is the only way, that I know of, for you to get into law school. Too bad you goofed around instead of studying but you still have this year to make major improvements. You can do it!
