If things continued without ending, we would never appreciate later on just HOW good it was.

We as intelligent beings get tired of the mundane and the monotonous.
And if a good thing were to last, we would know nothing else other than 'it'.

I think the Buddhists would say to teach us the lesson of impermanence.

Others might say to help us recognize that we need to enjoy the things we take for granted (health, Internet access, beautiful fall/spring days) because they will go away.

The saying that could make the poor rejoice, and the rich weep was "this, too, shall change"
