I think since his name is MOSES (spelling is with the s ) you would not use an apostrophe. It is the singular spelling of the mans name.
If you are using the sentences with moses is, then you could put the apostrophe after the s Mose's (meaning moses is) If you use the sentence "that staff belongs to moses" the apostrophe is after the S. Meaning it's his.
You wouldn't use the apostrophy unles you used it in a similar or like sentence.
Because MOSES is the name.

If a name already ends in s, you put the apostrophe at the end without adding an "s".... exp. Moses', it shows possesion

I cannot believe you took the time to type this vitriol. Wow. Names are personal choices, if you as an adult don't like the name don't name your child that. If you were saddled with a name that you don't care for on your 18th march down to the courthouse and for a small fee you can become whoever you were destined to be. Unless it's your own name, why is this even that important to you???

Moses's is technically correct but the modern convention is to write Moses' because it is more pleasing thus for all names ending in the letter S. Henry's, for example, remains correct.

Either of those is correct. I prefer to use Moses's, but the other way is perfectly acceptable, too.

I recommend you pick up a copy of "the elements of style" by Struck and White. Small book but essential for English usage. BTW it is Moses's. Moses is his name 's denotes possession.
