It wont start. I bought it a new battery, and still wont start.
Something seems to be draning the battery power. It was sitting for a week and was able to crank it up with cables.
Does any one knows what it might be? What is the proper battery it should have? Other than the battery what can be happening with the car.

OKAY IF THE BATTERY IS DRAINED DOWN NOW, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY JUST BY GETTING THE CAR STARTED.

THE BATTERY WILL HAVE TO BE SLOW CHARGED BACK BECAUSE IT WAS SLOWLY DISCHARGED.

WHEN YOU PUT THE NEW BATTERY IN YOU STATED THAT IT WOULD STILL NOT START, SO I WOULD CHECK THE STARTER ASSEMBLY FIRST.

ONCE YOU HAVE THE NEW BATTERY COMPLETELY RECHARGED AND YOU WILL HAVE TO USE A BATTERY CHARGER FOR THIS BECAUSE IT WILL TAKE ANYWHERE FROM 24 TO 72 HOURS OF SLOW CHARGING TO GET IT BACK UP TO THE CORRECT VOLTAGE.

THE DRAIN THAT IS COMMON ON A LOT OF VEHICLE WILL BE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY.

IF ONCE THE BATTERY IS RECHARGED AND THE ALTERNATOR HAS BEEN CHECKED AND YOU ARE CERTAIN THAT THE SECURITY SYSTEM IS OKAY AS WELL, THEN THE LAST THING TO CHECK WILL BE TO SEE IF THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER MANUALLY.

IF ALL THIS IS MORE THAN YOU WANT TO MESS WITH I WOULD SUGGEST........................

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

LEAVE IT THERE WITH THEM SO THAT THEY CAN FIND THE PROBLEM FOR YOU, IT WILL BE A LOT BETTER THAN JUST REPLACING PART AFTER PART AND NOT DOING ANY GOOD.

If the starter motor turns the engine over ok ("cranks ok"), and the battery voltage is 9.6 Volts DC or more while it's cranking (necessary to power computer and fuel pump etc), then the next two checks you make are for the presence of ignition spark and fuel pressure. Use the spark tester below and try spraying "quick start" starting fluid into the air cleaner air intake to the engine. If the engine then starts and runs before stalling, check the fuel pressure with the gauge below to be at least 40 PSI. Of course any dash warning lights should be investigated because the computer error codes will help diagnose what could be keeping the fuel pump from running even if you find that you have a good spark at the spark tester.
Reset the fuel pump cut-off or "roll-over" safety switch shown in your car's owner's manual (may be in trunk of car).

Is your security light on when you are trying to start it? WIll it not turn over at all? Could be your Ignition Cylinder, that has a wire that runs down the column that reads the chip in the key. Sometimes that wire can get pinched or actually break causing the car to not turn over at all.

78 series battery should be fine in that. Go for the highest CCA in that series though. Dont skimp on a battery, too many options to run on that particular car.
