I'll be in Vegas for good in October, but I'm coming 2 days before I can move into my apartment, so I need a hotel and I refuse to pay the strip prices because I just need somewhere to rest my head until I can get into my place. My problem is that don't wanna spend anymore than $80 a night (that excludes the Golden Nugget) so can anyone tell me a cheap, yet safe and not too too shabby hotel in the Downtown/Fremont area?

BTW I will need the room from 10/30-11/1. I will be moving to Henderson. How much would an average taxi ride cost me from any of the downtown hotels to the Henderson area?

Go to the Boulder Station. It is less than $80 a night and in a safe place. Clean hotel. It is on Boulder Hwy.

The Fitzgerald, might be an option.
It all depends on what is going on in town though. If there is a convention or a big event in town, even the roach motels will go for more then 100 a night.

Check out The Desert Palace - safe, clean and very reasonable (< $80 night).
