I've just moved to a new house for the first time in my life, it's really tiring. It's hard to find the place for my things, there's a mess etc..
What're your experiences?

I sympathize. I just moved about 2 weeks ago into a smaller place. I still have cardboard box anxiety.

The best thing to do is just start unpacking getting your things put away and resume normal life.

I hate moving myself. To much junk to move. I know some people see it as a good time to clean but every time, I end up short of time and the stuff just gets shoved into boxes and then I have an even bigger mess on the other end. I've always moved to something bigger but it doesn't help ... I just end up with more stuff (aaaaargh!). Next move, two garages, 4 stalls each ... that should do it! I also hate leaving friends, ect. On the plus side though, I hate the weather here in the winter and the taxes suck (can I say that without, you know ... hehe).

Boy, if anyone took any of my boxes, would I ever be upset ... especially if it was the box with my leather skirts in it!

btw - I think Savanah is supposed to be pretty nice. I here great things about North Carolina too but I was there once in the summer and wow ... it is really HOT!

It all depends. If were moving to a better place then naw I have no problem if we were moving away from my friends and family just cause they got bored of the place, then yes I have a problem. My first experience I moved a street over and a slightly bigger place but I had better friends so it was cool and the adjust was fairly quick. My second experience I moved to a different STATE. The adjust was really difficult but my family was out here so it was okay. So depending on how and why you are moving it can be difficult or easy.

I was an army brat, and went to 10 different schools between kindergarden and highschool, so I've had my fill of moving.

In the last 23 years I've only moved twice, and spent 21 of those years in the same house with no plans to move again. It's not so much the packing and cleaning that bothered me so much as leaving friends behind.

I love moving! We moved 12 times in 24 yrs. I always knew it would be an interesting experience for all of us.
We live in Germany twice, Korea, Thailand, Guam, all across the United States.

This was our last assignment, and it was so hard to "stay put"
Every other year we waited for an assignment with great expectation until we finally realized that we were through traveling. We always joke about how we liked the gypsy life!

OMG I know what you are talking about with my husbands job we have moved 4 times in the last 8 months and and there is 1 more that we are anticipating in the next few months ........I will be glad when we can finally get back to a normal life and settle into one place again thank goodness we do not have children because this would just be even harder on them than it would be on me

I detest moving! I have done it 8 times and never have liked any part of it. I thought when we moved 4 years ago that would be the very last time, but now we are thinking about selling the house we have and getting a newer one. I dread the thought of it, packing, hiring a moving firm, etc.

When we moved, it was my first time and the new place was 40 mins. away. The house needed tons of work, painting, removing wallpaper, carpeting. And I had to help my parents do it all. It was horrible. I hated it. But then I got to do my room and it was really fun. Took like forever to unpack and get everything in place though.

I moved a year ago after living in my first house for 14teen years. I still have boxes to put away. And i still have to paint. etc. Very long process.Good luck. Tackle a project one at a time. It gets overwhelming if you think of it as a whole.

It's a pain in the neck!!!!!!!!!!! I don't move anymore, but it's hard yo find the right spot for everything, you need to be very practical and organized...for your own good, But after you settle ( can take up to 2 weeks!!!!) it's sooo nice!! you know where everything is and you love it!
One advise, put back in its place after you used it!! if you don't later you won't even find the scissors, the tape, the light bulbs, etc.etc.

Bit pain in the butt. My only joy is paring down my material possessions. It usually takes a move for me to throw out/recycle all the crud I've accumulated over the years. For about a year after a move, I have a spare, zen-like environment until it begins all over again.
