Why is it that people in the UK and US are not politically active?

It could be because it seems impossible to change things on your own, or because politicians make it seem a dull subject to put people off trying to change things.

But if food was more scarce, would we be less likely to just accept the decisions made for us by the state, as we do now?

It really takes one of three things for people to rise up in significant numbers against their government.

#1 lack of shelter
#2 Lack of food
#3 lack of security

We are not even close to missing any one of the three.

Governments are well aware of these three problems. That is why repressive governments usually go unchallenged with their people.

For the most part, people don't give a rats behind about politics, as long as they have a job and they're left alone. They could care less about what is happening with their neighbor, let alone someone or a country they know little of.

That is why we get what we deserve. If the UK or the USA slowly turned into a dictatorship under the mantra of protection after more attacks, the people would probably accept it.

That is why people like Tony Blair and George Bush are so damned dangerous, because they'd do that and get away with it. And right wing nuts would be smashing store and home windows of traitors who dare question the kings and queens and fascists that have done this or allowed this to happen.

Yes, neocons, I do mean you.

Peace

Jim

30,000 people die everyday from complications brought on by malnutrition world wide in good years .

When droughts suddenly happen or floods then that number increases . Well over a million people can die .

SO I have to say that anarchy is a long way off in America .

Whats more likely is marshal law and detainee/camps for restless citizens who have lost the ability to care for themselves .

Currently people from Katrina are setting the standards for what the government can and can not do with regards to housing and controlling people .

The refugee camps are run with various regulations and to this day thousands of people stay at them under regulations much different then what our constitution allows/protects us all from .

No!- the truth is that we will become a police state if it has already not occurred . Anarchy can not happen in the United States ever .

It would take the loss of the capitol during the swearing in ceremony of a president kill off the governments top officials .

This would still leave the military though and God forbid they take control of this nation .

The military mindset is much more radical and oppressive then any government almost .

You would exchange work for a place to live and eat . You would share quarters with many other people and enjoy group showers where the water is on only 5 minutes during scheduled times of the day .

SO please No one get the Idea of getting rid of the greedy politicians .

The reason why people have government is for food. If everyone grew their own there would be no need for government. Look what happened in New Orleans? Basic services broke down and anarchy ensued. It is not just New Orleans either. Look at the Balkans or Iraq. We are all just a few days away from anarchy.

Food, gasoline, clothing, anything considered a necessity of life.

Flash back to the 1970's and the Arab Oil Embargo. Long lines at the gas stations. Gas stations actually running out of gas. People actually yelling, screaming and shooting at each other.

You cheated. You asked more than one question and gave up only five points. I disagree with the premise of your second question. People in the US are politically active. Check the main stream media. We are up to our eyeballs in political activity.
