Yep
I like you means just that.
I love you means that I like you a lot or I'm in love with you or even I want to jump your bones and sometimes it means less then nothing to those who say it.
So I love you is more complicated and heart breaking then we first expect just ask anyone who has just been dumped for the first time.
They feel like life is over and don't know that it's just begun and they will have to play the same game again untill they win or worse give up.
You should always take a good look at who you are with and even then they can fool you, it's risk or be lonely.

I know this is not what you mean but I have love for everybody but there are some people that I really do not like.
I assume you mean in a relationship though and my answer to that is the typical one everyone else is giving-yes it makes a difference. Love like that is scaryish..

YES I love you means that your inlove with the person, your head over heals, want to be with them every minute.

I like you means you just enjoy the company once in a while and hope to see them on a regular basis.

Of course! I LOVE YOU is a very big word, you can't say it to everyone. I LIKE YOU is different, its just a "crush" that you may have to somebody.
My opinion.

Yes. They are two very different things that are both important in a relationship. It's easy to like someone without loving them, and it isn't so hard to love someone without liking them.

If you're going to have a successful relationship, you really need both. My boyfriend tells me he loves me all the time, but sometimes I just need him to tell me that he likes me. If he stops liking me, then we're going to have just as much trouble as if he stops loving me.

Yes, they are different but I always like to know that the people who love me also like me too. People who like me do not necessarily have to love me.

Its similar to cool water and hot water.
Both are waters but the feel is not same.
No matter the thing is,
Love and like both got the same importance.
And the depth is similar and depends on to whom you are gonna say this.
