for you or for the friend...

No. I only have a few good friends but our friendship is a lot more important than occasional boyfriends & girlfriends.
For us it works the other way round. We've found ourselves breaking up with people that didn't really approve our friendship and asked the question "Either me or them!"

Yes. I had a buddy I asked not to take out a ex girlfriend, mostly because he lived right down the street and I would have to see her, with him. It wasn't like they were in true love or anything. He did it anyway and I got mad, and all this was when I was alot younger and less mature.

Almost... my g/f had been under a lot of strain with her life and her b/f, and because she and I were so close she took it out on me... I ignored her nasty txt messages for the week then the next time I saw her I gave her a hug and she was fine... my patience paid off....i didn't allow a moment of nervous breakdown to ruin our friendship no matter how nasty she got....

Yup

but even at the time I realised that they weren't that much of a loss to begin with.

It's a big world out there, full of lots of other good people.
