The pain in your "area" is most likely the baby getting "into position" and ready to come into the world, I had the same pain there and my mid wife said I was dilating a bit. The thing you see sticking out is probably the baby. My daughter stayed to one side for the last six weeks and my belly was always lop sided and I could see her running her arms and legs across my belly and it was a bit painful at times. If you are truly concerned it would be best to go see your OB or mid wife and get checked, but I'm sure everything is fine, its always a little stressful and scary with your first. Good Luck and congrats!

Your uterus is held in place by 4 muscles, 2 attach to your spine farther down you back, and 2 run along the sides. I also am about to be a first time mom and am 34 weeks along, I had these pains and asked my doctor, he said that most likely it was form stretching these muscles, along with the natural growth (the baby is going to DOUBLE his weight in the next 6ish weeks!)
Also he told me that Braxton Hicks contractions are also starting about now, and not to worry unless I could make out a pattern in the pains, I got any vaginal discharge, or the pain became to intense to do my daily activities.
They also could be your baby! I know its hard to picture but I had a very bad shooting pain in my belly button that made me almost die from the pain of it, it went away after a bit and I called my doctor, turns out he was just practicing some yoga in there.... (he turned himself sideways with him bent in half and his feet above his head!)
So never fear, bring them up at your next prenatal visit just to be sure, but know you are not alone!
Congratulations and good luck!

Hi,
This is normal, i started having this at 34 weeks. Its the baby moving deeper into the pelvis.
About the sticking out, it might just be your vagina swollen due to more blood volume. I had this also and Doctor saw it and said nothing of it.
just as long as you don't have bleeding or contractions (seeing your 34 weeks) everything should be fine.

GET TO THE HOSPITAL ASAP! Anytime you have pain like that you should have someone take you to your doctor or the hospital IMMEDIATELY! I delivered at 34 weeks and it's not an easy time for the infant. Don't take any chances!

I had a lot of pressure in the last few weeks, come to find out he had his arm pointed above his head, so I had a c section. I couldn't even pee. It could be your body preparing for labor, but I would at least call you Dr.

it could be the baby settling down into place and I agree you shouldnt see anything sticking out unless its from your belly. call your doctor and get checked.
