I really don't know what to do my sister and brother in-law have been trying for a year to have a baby without success. My sister is getting desperate now and she wants me to make her pregnant the natural way!

I was floored by the whole thing and said I am not sure if it was right? Should I help them out or tell them they need to find another sperm donner?

If it was a 1 time thing would that still be classed as incest considering this was excepetional circumstances to create a life?

I agree with all the other answerers:

1) it is incest.

2) the baby has very high risk of discarriage, of different handicaps because of the similar gene pool.

3) It is a good thing that most sperm donaters are anonymous. Not being able to be father the natural way is hard to bear for your brother-in-law. Knowing the guy and seeing the father of your baby is even harder to bear.

4) are they sure that he is "the problem"? If your sister isn't getting pregnant it may be her as well. A doctor has to check this.

One word about the gene pool: normally a baby has very different genes - from mother and from father. The stronger genes survive, so you get a good combination of the two. You and your sister have similar genes. So the baby will get "more of the same" which can lead to really bad results.

Don't do this.

BTW: First time that I hope someone fakes a question.

getting pregnant and having a child are gifts from G-D. Some people are not given those gifts for a reason. Clearly your sister is out of her mind and should not bear children. what will she do if by the slim chance you do impregnant her and the baby is normal and comes out a boy? use his sperm to make a brother or sister for him? That is absolutly ludicris. I have never ever heard of anyone doing this except in horror movies about genetic defects. see the hills have eyes? thats what the baby would look like. ewww Mr. Quiet...you need to be quiet

Absolutely considered incest and besides just being gross (and against the law in most places) there are genetic reasons for not going this way. The baby stands a much higher chance of having mental or physical abnormalities. DO NOT DO THIS!

They need to find another sperm donor. Not because of any moral issues, but because any baby with two closely related parents has a high chance of genetic defects. It really is not worth the risk.

Your sister and her husband need to have medical tests to find out whom the problem lies with- if it is an issue of her hubby' sperm, she needs to find a sperm donor at a sperm bank, not aim to commit incest and have a child with a high likelihood of genetic problems.

I can't believe someone would even consider this. Tell your sister to get a sperm donor or adopt a baby. There are other ways of having a baby.

if you are biologically related (same blood parents), the child could suffer deformities. yes it still would be incest. you need to be understanding to your sister, but let her know that her desperation is leading her in the wrong direction. unless she was advised by a doctor that it is her husband who is sterile, that may not even be the problem. she needs to seek the attention of a doctor, not her brother.

Advise them to see a specialist. A doctor who could advise them on what problems they are encountering that affect child bearing. The specialist can also advise how to overcome or remedy the problem. Advise them to also look into the possibility of artificial insemination.

not a good idea, and YES, even just once it is still incest. Tell her that she shouldn't be a parent if she is so willing to put her morals aside to get what she wants.

Don't screw with the gene pool. You'd be asking for trouble. Plus, what do you think would happen if a child(if it even survived) would think of the three of you if it ever found out what you'd done?!
