Honestly, USC is a good football team. LSU, Oklahoma, Florida and West Virginia are also good football teams. Until there is a playoff system developed, there will always be these lingering questions and bickering among fans of teams that get left out in the cold. That said, USC does seem to get the preferential treatment by the media. If they go undefeated, they don't have to worry about other teams records to get their chance at the championship.

You didn't mention who you believe is Number 1 instead of USC?
I find it pretty impressive that USC is voted Number 1 versus Flordia or LSU given how many of the USC games will be televised past 9pm Eastern this year.
Pete Carroll has a lot to do with that and the recruiting he has done at USC.
Playing at Nebraska, no matter the season, is no small chore. Especially since Nebraska will probably go 9-3, 10-2 this season.
Florida plays, in addition to their conference schedule, Western Kentucky, Troy, and Florida Atlantic - meaning they don't have a single big out of conference game. Florida State is not even the same FSU team as 3-4 years ago.
LSU's schedule is not much better except they played a tremendously overrated Virginia Tech team. If any team is on par or above USC, it would be LSU. But how about LSU playing a hard road game out of conference - Tulane?

Like them or not, USC is the best team in the country as of now. It might change in the weeks to come, but right now I have no problem calling USC the #1 team in the country. LSU is RIGHT behind them. Now, let's not be too concerned with the polls right now, there are about 6 teams that are head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.
But until Division 1A football has a playoff system, there will never be a true National Champion.

are you crazy, they have the 8 toughest schedule in the NCAA this year. I understand your problem the reason USC schedule looks weak is because USC is really that good and they make their opponents look weak. Nebraska was ranked #14. Last year they beat the #2 team in the SEC Arkansas 50-14, they also smashed the number 3 team Michigan 38-14 or something. If you were a team with everything to loose would you play USC, no. That is why the top teams don't want to play them unless the meet them in a BCS Championship Game.

That's a great question. LSU has allowed one touchdown in 12 quarters, and has racked up a grand total of... let's see... 137 points in 3 games? Why is LSU not #1? I have no idea. USC is a great team. Which is why I am really looking forward to seeing LSU play them in the national championship, and finally settling that stupid 2003 debate. We ARE the better team, USC. Get used to it.

Another example of USC haters not giving any respect to a great team.

And yet another assinine response from a USC fan who goes overboard defending thier team thinking they are all gods.

It is amazing to me how anyone who is a fan of football could have watched that game could think that USC was not a great team, and there are many out there who have stated that they arent.

On another note the USC need to settle down because it was also apparent that Nebraska was overrated wether you want to admit it or not.
