I would like to write to my dad...

... He died 2 years ago, after a fulminating melanoma that took him away in only a few months and until the end he never once acknowledged the fact that he was dying... So we left a lot of loose ends and unsaid words. I left him in the hospital and went back to Vienna knowing that I would probably not see him alive and I will forever feel guilty about that...
I wish I could have told him how much I loved him and how much he meant in my life. I am telling you now, dad, I loved you so much and i should had showed it to you more!

As for my Love, Rob, I do write to him regularly. I like to write real letters, as well as emails and I have recently given him 2-months' worth of love correspondence to read.... if he can decipher my handwriting, of course!

My dad. He passed away before I realized that alcoholism is a disease and that he was powerless against it. It wasn't until after he died that I was able to forgive him for what our family went through as a result of his drinking.

For the record, he wasn't abusive...on the contrary, he was a benevolent drunk...very kind and generous to his barmates. Unfortunately that left little of his paycheck to care for and feed all of us kids. We were placed in foster care due to neglect, not abuse.

That being said, foster care was foster care...they didn't differentiate between neglected children and abused children, they just dropped you off in whatever household raised their hand and said, "I'll take them thar kids of yer hands!"

But again, he had no control over his addiction so it was wrong of me to blame him for so many years...I guess if I could, I'd write to him and say, "I forgive you...and thank you for bringing me into this world."

I don't really have anybody that isn't close enough to call or see. Other than that, there's really nobody I want to talk to.
