I moved to Boston to find a job after grad school. I had CBT before and it was somewhat under control. Now that I don't have counseling, my life is a disaster. I am just not accomplishing much though I seem to always be doing something and my disorganization has taken a turn for the worst. It's at an historical low. I URGENTLY need to get this under control. The prior plan was to wait until I got a job (=health insurance) but it can't wait now. How do I get a fast appointment for therapy and/or medications? On a strict budget?

1. In Massachusetts, health insurance is mandatory. There are several plans available. Here is the link to the health connector:

2. You could go to an emergency room. You cannot be turned away. However, keep in mind that you might not get the same level of care. If they think they need to keep you for your own safety, they will.

3. My suggestion is to check out the state health insurance plan right now. But if your mental health is keeping you from actually getting a job, don't delay. Go get yourself the care you need now. Mass General Hospital and the Boston Medical Center have good mental health centers within their emergency rooms. Good luck.

4. Finally I thought of one more link to the MA Health and Human Services Division which has a great deal of helpful information:
