I like to incorporate a bit of each element into my space so I can feel more in tune with nature, thus making my space a happy place to be.
Earth, Water, Air, Fire - it's very simple to do and makes just about any room become instantly more interesting, peaceful, and positive.
Earth - some plants or something earthen in nature - interesting rocks, some wooden items, earthy tones... helps to give you something solid to look at and makes you feel more peaceful.
Water - a fish tank, a vase with water and colorful stones, a fountain - these help to maintain humidity in your air and can help a hot room feel cooler. Water also lends itself to creating a more peaceful atmosphere with sight, sound, feeling/touch, and sometimes scent.
Air - a happy person's house is often described as "light & airy" for a good reason. When you have a good air flow through your house you are more likely to have more energy. The quality of the air in your house is directly proportional to the quality of energy in your step. Open some windows and place fans in strategic locations to get a good current of air through the house. Get filtering fans for an even better effect. Get rid of things that are causing bad odors, and rid your house of mildew and other sources of toxic air pollution (absolutely NO cigarettes in or within 50 feet of my house!)
Fire - Fire invokes a warmth and security that goes back to when the first man & woman sat around a hearth and warmed themselves. You can invoke the element of fire in many ways - candles, a fireplace, inscence sticks, or even a picture of a fire or fiery colors can add warmth and depth to a room, and a bit of romance too. Make sure you do it safely, and avoid smokiness as that would diminish your air quality. A well kept flame will keep your own flame from feeling so burned out at the end of a day.
*Cheers and may you be blessed with a happy house!*

A red bean bag chair. You can`t sit in one without a smile coming across your face! I don`t envision an uptight negative person having one in their home.

Dust and spiders. They'd never be home, just out at friends all the time.
