I think they've just been fortunate these last 2 weeks, but it won't last.

I will admit, Frank Gore is talented, but it takes more than one guy to carry a team.

I think FANatic should be called FAN-addict....He's gotta be on something if he thinks the Steelers aren't a significant threat to the 49ers! We'll all see next week how the '9ers fare against a REAL team. I'm not saying SF won't win their share of games, but their schedule cannot be considered hard when you look at who else is in their division. The 49ers will be lucky to score the total of points the Steelers have given up the past two weeks combined (10) and their defense will suffer since they have not played any team so far with a superior offense.

The NFC is WEAK. That being said, the 49ers have started the season with Arizona (CAKE) and St. Louis (Great O, Horrible D). Next week will be a great test when they travel to Pittsburgh and 2 weeks later host Baltimore. Those will be 2 tests that will show if the '9ers are for real.

They're squeezing victories out in the weakest conference in football. I don't really think Pittsburgh is much of a significant threat next week either. Alex Smith is much improved and Frank Gore was a monster today but can they compete against a top-heavy AFC? I agree with you...mostly luck.

They are definitely for real, St. Louis is not an easy team to beat especially on the road. The niners probably won't win the superbowl but I definitely think they are a wild card team. They've shown a lot of heart in the past two weeks.
