I think the Jackson 5 pulled Motown away from its roots. They were from Gary Indiana and not Detroit which may explain a few things. Berry Gordy's fault to go mainstream commercial.

The Four Tops, with Stevie Wonder a close second. Also love Martha & The Vandellas.

Never really a fan of Diana Ross though.

btw..Barry White was not a Motown artist.
