Sorry I don't think our kids are our "possessions" like some of the other posters. While it's true they 'belong to us', they are not ours to possess. We don't own them like they're property.
And, everybody knows that when we leave this life, we take absolutely nothing with us, none of our worldly possessions.
Therefore, I have to respond to this question on a strictly physical plane. I would say as "possessions" go. . . I have to say my most treasured possession is my home.

My two boys !! The rest could go right now, while I would be devastated to lose my wife, heartbroken to lose another family member, really upset to lose the house to a fire or something or a bit upset about the car getting nicked, I don't think I'd be able to survive without my boys.
Don't get me wrong, my wife's an angel, but if it was a straight choice, she'd lose, as would I if it was her choice.
There's nothing more precious than life, especially the lives of children. But they're not possessions really, are they?
So I'll go with my England shirt that's signed by Ray Clemence!that's the only 'possession' I'd hate to lose.

Mine would be my wedding ring - can i be greedy and have two - a special mum cushion my son bought me.
With all due respect hunnybunny and others - when I first read the question family members came to mind immediately - but the question is most treasured possession - kids/people are not possessions - perhaps thats why you got the thumbs down - although I dont agree you should have as I understand your sentiment behind it.

Well friends and family are not possessions. They are a sort of blessing we keep for a while.
So when you say possession I am taking it as objects and not emotional human or even pet attachments.
The spoon, the spanner and the old cardy. Those are the possessions that mean a great deal. Because of the past and lost emotional attachments they stand for.

Life
People are the most precious things to me, my loved ones, but "possession" cannot be used there. Possession to me means materialistic items, a thing you cant take with you when you die, and it is yours only. So I would have to say my life. Without it I could not do so much for other people. Without it I could not give life, help new life grow, help spread love and laughter and peace and healing.

I don't understand why answerer's here are saying that they take possession of their chidren or family members.
I don't believe in having occupancy ownership power over another person.
I'm not religious, but the bible even says not to worry about possessions.
Perhaps I misunderstand this question.

My own common sense, seems of late on a global scale it is not so common after all.
I would say my partner ... but to say I own her would obviously not be right or correct. I would say my dog as she gives gives unconditional love (and little bites of my hands too) but she is not only mine. The only thing I own is myself and my thoughts (which is treasured at least), so that is my choice ... for all the thumbs down it would remain so too : )

A bullet my friend somehow survived when getting shot in Iraq.
He gave it to me to let me know that people can survive and overcome the most brutal of things.
