Billy Ray Cyrus holds the record for the longest time at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart for a debut record (17 weeks). I believe the song in question is what kept that record there. He's only had 6 other top 10 hits. Achy Breaky Heart is his only number 1 so far.
I think it's sad that when a singer hits the top as fast and hard as Billy Ray Cyrus did with this song. It ruins their entire career by labeling them as a 'one hit wonder'.
I've always been a huge fan of Billy Ray Cyrus. I was fortunate enough to see him a couple months ago in concert in his hometown. The performance was at the very place that the "Achy Breaky Heart" video was filmed. He puts on a great show and if you ever get a chance to see one I don't think you will be disappointed.

When the song came out I was cooking in a nursing home during the breakfast shift. Every morning at 6:00 AM the song was played on the radio in the cafeteria and without fail I would go throw up as soon as the song started playing. Thats how I found out I was pregnant. If that isn't bad what is?

...because it sounds so country! I mean, it's not young country, it's like heehaw country.
Ironic! I like Miley's songs. They are upbeat, fast, and with a lot of bass. I wouldn't take her dad's songs for free, but I have bought one of her songs ($0.96 at walmart.com).
I remember that us kids would make fun of that song. "Don't tell my fart, my achy, breaky fart..." Juvenile, I know, but funny that we laughed so easily!

i love this song, but I think it had to do with a law suit that he had stolen the song from some one else don't know who or anything, but that's what I heard.
