Sometimes there are good points for both sides, but the experts disagree on which good points are more important.

Sometimes there are different factors involved which aren't immediately obvious (say, a doctor who is in a big city hospital with all the facilities available in case of problems might have a different opinion on whether a particular mum should try to have a natural birth, than a doctor who is out in a tiny hospital hours from the nearest emergency room).

And sometimes there really isn't a right or wrong, and it's to be expected that different people will feel differently.

For any area you can name, there are different schools of thought, different theories. And the opinions of any 1 expert is going to be based on his/her life experince and education.

But a LOT of experts have theories that have never been tested or proven. they wrote a book about their ideas, their publishing company declared their expertise and advertised a lot, and , really, they don't have expertise , either in terms of experience or education and research.

Beyond that, it is possible for 2 experts to disagree ( physics is a good example) because good research was done, but the implictions of that research aren't clear - the research leads to more questions.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SORT IT OUT ?
find out why they are considered an expert.
what is their education?
Where do there theories come from ?
Is this person the ONLY expert that believes this - that's a warning sign.

Easy. This happens all the time. Not all questions are clear-cut and black-and-white. In fact, surprisingly few are. Many many questions have a lot of room for disagreement, even (or especially) among the well-informed.

Is there a particular subject you have in mind?

Because thats just what they are - Opinions - every situation and circumstance, perception, culture, individual experience etc effects each of us in different ways so our opinions differ.
We each have our own belief system, who is to say whose is right or wrong?

That is the idea of an opinion. Opinions are not necessarily facts, they are what one person believes.

I remember getting marked down on an English essay at school where the question was, in your opinion, blah, blah blah. I challenged the teacher over it as I said that she couldn't mark it as wrong as it was MY opinion!

Because there is more than one side to a coin, people will always see things differently and why is this question in this category?

It's all about perception. Despite the facts involved, perception will always alter the results.
