I just read the answers people gave to this question and find them quite condescending.
I think you make a valid point, and I feel the same way.
Yahoo answers is not just about POINTS, and answering a question as quickly as you can to earn them. If you don't have an answer worth writing don't waste everyone's time that uses this site for the purpose of what it is here for. I find this site can be so helpful and supportive and wish people used it the way it supposed to be used. Don't get me wrong some questions can be controversial and there is a time to leave back humorous feedback, you just need to know when.

It's basically an extension of a human habit to get maximum with minimum input( may be points or the number of questions answered or whatever).We should also remember that there are a large number of kids ,loafers, no good doers,bored,uneducated,jerks and anti something/everything,fanatics,angry/frustrated and anti social people on this site at any given point of time. I have seen that out of 10 answers to a question,hardly one or two have any connection leave aside any relevance.So.what choice do we have?Take it or leave it.

It is because they want more points and yes it is annoying.
They can also be Lazy and not read the question so they answer whatever they think of for an answer.

They just want to earn points. Some don't really give a damn about the question. Others just like to humiliate people, that's why they give out ridiculous and bogus answers. Let them be. Karma is a b*tc*! It'll catch up on them!

Yes expect it is to get an easy 2 points, some people just dont bother. They are being lazy, ignorant and stupid. Doubtless you will get lots of one word answers to your question, here they all come!!!!
