Personally I prefer the side that is plumbed in on the pipe going straight down..and not the one that is "elbowed off" going into the other sink..My theory is less corners for the disposed items to turn thru the better force the wasted material will flow, and less chance of stopping up..generally..the pipe on a double sink has the straight pipe on the right hand side..

It does not matter. If you look the pipes for each sink are connected. Typically the disposal is on the right hand side though.

As long as all your pipe work and your switches are comfortable. Your switch should be there so you can turn it off in an emergency, not across the room.

no it does not. only thing that matters is which side you prefer and what looks good to suit ur needs and the kitchen
