Actually, I think you'll find that Einstein didn't actually do much work on the bomb itself. He alerted Roosevelt to the possibility of building a weapon which harnessed the energy from splitting an atom, and provided much of the theoretical maths to guide the way, but if anything, the thought was more like "We'd better get one built before they do, or we're toast!" He knew the Germans were working on a bomb program or at least were exploring the possibilities, you see?

Also known as a 'fuel-bomb' the basic idea is to cover a very large area with a fuel mixture and then ignite it. In theory there is no practical upper limit to how large such a bomb could be. The downside is that they're difficult to control, especially if there's any wind.
