Yes, especially for people like Paris Hilton. She probably didnt fully appreciate her fame and fortune until she was stuck in a cold jail cell with only peanut butter and jelly to eat. People tend to take things for granted but as soon as its gone, they miss it and realize how beneficial it was.

True. We don’t appreciate the things we already have until we loose one or some of them. We take for granted a good health, a loyal friend, family or a job until it’s gone and then we go back to see how our life was enriched by what we’ve lost.

Sadly, thinking it over, I think in some cases it's true. Made me sad, though.
So I guess I know what I had... which, even though gone, my memories should kick to life now and fill in with the sweet, sweet thoughts of yore.
Okay, there, that's a little better. Good question, just for cathartic value if nothing else. thx!

yup!! I lost my mom in 1983,,,, I turned 29 in June and she died April 8th, and I miss her terribly...... she's gone, ,, and I'm still here. I would have given anything to have it be the other way around, but it was'nt meant to be.
She don't know about all my grand kids, and she don't know about the bitter feelings toward my own kids, and she'll never get to meet my great grand son, or be at any family dinners, or holidays........ yeah,,,, its true you don't really know what you have till its gone. its very true.....
My hope is that you never ever have to go thru any of what I've experienced...... and if your not close to your family members, may I suggest you get that way, as it could all change in the blink of an eye.......
