Could it be that folk here, who like to take the law into their own hands, accuse the McCanns of murder ONLY to punish them for child neglect?
Its a thought i got...
Many many weeks ago i received an email from one of the most vociferous of the anti-McCanns stating cooly that he doesn't really believe they murdered their baby & hid evidence, but hey! they deserve the flak they get, 'cos they her unattended that night.
To me this reeks of a demented sense of justice.
It also explains why such people will stoop to claim they have evidence (which they don't) in spite of contrary reports from experts regarding that "evidence's" authencity & reliablility.

Rik D, did you honestly think i meant that our little posts here would serve as evidence in court?
C'mon, i meant that the accusations & insinuations that the McCanns are getting here, on other forums & in the media for murdering their Madeleine could be construed by some of the lynch-mob as just desserts for the McCanns. A warped, irresponsible & cruel sense of justice...

I think you may already have your own view. The situation is that the Mccans are guilty of neglect and just will not properly admit it.
They made a weak attempt to absolve that guilt - using the word but clearly not actually beleiving they should not have left their children exposed in the way they did. They are reaping the harvest of that dishonesty. In that respect, you are correct. I think many take the principle of 'innocent until proven guilty' in the worng way. Their is a genuine fear that the money and quite remarkable influence of the Mccans will create an unstoppable momentum which will not see Maddie recieving the justice she and all the other innocents of the world need. The precedent being set that it is acceptable to leave the children in this way is highly dangerous. Better to sacrifice these people than allow that precedent - we must look to the greater good and I wish that the Mccanns would really act like the people they claim to be and make that sacrifice of career, position and money and admit neglect. It is they who are clouding the issue, not the portuguese police or the majority of us who recognise that neglect. If they admitted their actions were not acceptable and told the actual events, the search for Maddie would be greatly enhanced. Read the timelines - they do not make sense and are incomplete. Are we really to beleive that what Gerry said, that on seeing that Maddie wasnt between the twins, he had asumed she had made the decision to go to their bed to sleep because the twins were disturbing her? Its ludicrous and it beggars belief. Why after all this time and money and opportunity have the Mccanns failed to give a formal and documented full account of their actions that night? Why are they refusing to answer some questions - its incredible - the only regret of their being made formal suspects is that they are now hiding behind that status as an excuse for not telling anyone anything. Be honest, do you not wonder why they have never outlined the events, clearly and unequivicably? Why do they always say - stop discussing that, lets go look for Maddie (no proper investigation can take place without starting at the root - the events leading up to the point they made public her disappearance). And how on earth did the portuguese police manage to dupe UK police and scientists - one minute their idiots, the next they are duping the experts!

It´s more than that. Many people on here commenting have become obsessed with the McCann issue. Every question and every answer is just to do with the McCann´s. It will be like a drug to them, they will need to be here. The whole question or questions just keep going around and around.
The McCann issue will never go away. It will be with the McCann family for the rest of their lives. Not just the parents but every relative. For many on here commenting, they will still need to be here. I just switch off with this forum and comment a few times like this morning, there is so much more to YA than the McCann´s.

Yes. I often feel quite dirty after reading some of the nonsense on this site.
Every now and again I can't help myself and say something sarcastic (like suggesting that Maddie's body has been eaten by the parents) and it surprises me that people will give me a "thumbs-up" for that nonsense, while a calm and measured and proper response gets the thumbs down. (Like daring to say that actually, the McCanns did not phone Sky News before they called the police!)
It's a mad, and not very nice world.
To Ian above, they have expressed their regrets and talked about thier guilt. And perhaps, just perhaps, they are so desperate for people to look for their missing child, that they cannot see the sense of having to defend themselves, repeatedly, from people who speculate nonstop.

So what else is going on in the world besides this white family who did off with their little girl? There are many other kids missing in the world, colorful kids that we hear nothing about and no one is flooding the Yahoo Answer forum about!! So sick of this!

It's a very very good point faith (welcome back by the way!)
What I wanted has happened, Social Services have spoken to them and presumably satisfied themselves that they are fit to look after the twins (cue responses telling me that is because social workers are incompetant fools who leave children at risk daily)
As for the continued speculation, it is both boring and awful, but does not surprise me in the least when I compare it to the kind of responses I have recieved from people when I have posted things about crime and justice. There is definately a lynch mob, heavy ended punishment mentality out there and you know what? It scares the life out of me . . .

You know what....They did leave their YOUNG children unattended while they went out to eat...Tough crap they are being ridiculed! They should have thought of that when they left them alone for god's sake. ANYTHING could have happened when they did that, kid get out of bed, trip, hit their head, CHOKE, ANYTHING, and it did, so do I feel sorry for people who I do not even know, NO.... I raised three kids, and NEVER left them when they were little to go out to eat! And I don't know anyone in my lifetime who has! It is NEGLECT, PERIOD!! If they were in the states, the DHS would have taken the other kids away already, so they are lucky they are over there believe me!!!! And I am sick of reading all this "defense" crap by people who don't even know them, will never know them, write like they've known them all their lives!
Most ridiculous stuff I have ever seen!!! Had it been me who did that, or anyone I know, ? we'd be in jail with the key thrown away!
Most of us here are "over it"!! We don't care what happens to them!!!!! Sorry.

I think that would explain a lot of the unpleasantness on here. I think there's also a kind of jealousy - they fear that no-one would really care that much if their own child(ren) went missing.

It's not the people here who've accused them. It's a national police force. Perhaps you need to keep abreast of the news.
