Did the people in the Empire State building on the morning of 9-11 evacuate?

Can anyone tell me what the scene was like in that building on that terrible day? Did everyone rush outside or did you stay in the building?

I'm 90% sure I remember them evacuating. I wasn't there though, just glued to the T.V.
