I agree! they SUCK!!

But, then again, the ending of the HP series totally disappointed me... so it doesnt really matter anymore.

The first two movies were sweet and magical, and they took the books on pretty well. Then from there they just went down a VERY steep hill. I cant wait to see how they massacre the next 2 books, with their horribly appointed cast and ridiculous scripts...

I dont believe the movies to be inaccurate of the books however there is a lot in the books that you hope to see in the movies that is left out. The movies do not do justice to the books however they ae still quite entertaining especially to those who have not read the books.

I just hope that the following books are represented better by perhaps a couple of movies per book (like Lord of the Rings) because the last few books are amazing and certainly need to have everything in the movie to make the movies spectacular.

Though the movies have some parts that are completely inaccurate like Order of the Phoenix, it was kind of hard to follow if you hadn't read the books, but its still fun to watch the things they do get right. Plus no one would want to sit and watch a 6 hour movie, to get the facts right. But they are still okay.

I'd rather see a normal length movie that's fun and coherent enough to stand alone than a movie that jumps all over and is confusing if you haven't read the books lately or a 6 hour epic that painstakingly recapitulates the book in exact detail whether or not the scenes are suitable for a movie.

To compare two different mediums of media so different as literature and film is impossible. More people enjoy the film adaptations because it takes less time than reading the novels. Whether or not the portrayals are accurate is irrelevant, because the goal was entertainment. The films are probably made to be attractive to both readers of the novel and fans of the movies, and changes need to be made in order to ensure that audience is maintained.

What movie have you been watching?

The movies I've seen have been extremely close to the plot line. On some of the later movies some things had to be left out becuase of length. But the main elements were there and very true to the books.

LOL what I hate most about the movies is that the characters look far different from what I had imagined in my mind while reading the books, like the troll in the bathroom, for example. There are so many looks to the mythical troll character, and the one they chose for the movie was not what I had in mind.

The troll I had imagined was more like those dolls with the pink, frizzy hair. Now THAT'S a troll.

i completely agree. i much prefer the books to the movies and after seeing the first couple of movies, i didn't bother with the rest, until the last one, which i was forced to see...kinda.
Harry on the book covers has changed so much to look like Daniel Radcliffe. and i don't like the way that the directors have changed over the movies. the buildings and styles have changed allot from the fist movie to the fifth.

I love the movies because they allow the reader to see the world of Harry Potter come to life!

People love them because it gives you a gorgeous visual interpretation.

Yes, they aren't just like the books, but it doesn't mean they're horrible. For example, with the 5th movie, it's more of a film to go along with reading the book than a movie by itself.
