practical and realistic: a down-to-earth person.

I'm 100% posotive on this, go to any wikipedia or online dictionary/encyclopedia and ull get the same results. Many people thinks down to earth means humble or nice, but thats not true. Down to earth means someone who is realistic

It is a figure of speech, the opposite being "having one's head in the clouds".

If you are 'down to earth', you are a logical or practical person.

If you are not down to earth, you are a daydreamer, or lost in fantasy, or irrational
