If you mean "Hip-Pop" (the watered down, mainstream, pop-culture, MTV equivalent to Hip-Hop) then it's because it's like fast food: filling but not very good. Rock on the other hand a home-cooked lunch: pretty good, not very filling but at least holds you over until the next good meal.

Now fans of Real Hip-Hop tend to be Hip-Hop fans for life.

I've grown up with Rock music I'd never change it! As 4 ur ques! Rock has various types like Soft, Hard,Adult Contemporary, Country, Alternative, Hard-core,Heavy-Metal etc. that ppl can listen 2 but Hip-hop is just that hip-hop! You can't change it! Ppl can choose their type of rock to suit them but u can't 4 hip-hop!

they develop more of a personal taste of music on their own. when you're 13-16 you're influenced by the fads and the "popular" music of the time. When I was 18 I got into the Beatles. Now I'm 24 and I still loves oldies and now I've even learned to like country.

well I'm with u when i was in high school i ws all into rap/hip hop and wore my pants down low, but after i got out the army's and I'm in my mid 20's i listen to rock (lol i cant even stand rap anymore) especially classic, i take it as my taste has slowly matured and I'm less influenced by my peers nothing against rap but the whole a/b/a/b rhyme schemes got old (sorry my opinion) but id have to guess its similar for most

The only hip-hop I ever listen to is Rehab. I grew up listening to my parents play country, but I never liked that either. I was always punk and rock and really crappy garage bands.

I agree with sugarbaby. You do listen to Linkin Park, right? There's your answer to it. Rock added to hip-hop and rap. Honestly, I never liked rap, but I liked it a little bit when I listened to their music.

i think it's a difference of personality. if you like a lot of dancing, you're more likely to stick with R&B, but if you want lyrics more than beat, you'll go to rock.

i made the progression form R$B to classic rock to indie rock from the ages of 15-23 because my expirences in life fit with the music better that way. plus, after a while, ANY one kid of music will start to bore you and you'll look for something new.

Both of my teenage daughters don't like hip-hop music. My younger daughter says that's one reason she doesn't like to go to dances at her school. She says all they play is rap and hip-hop.

Because that is their rebel stage and they see it on the tv and thinks its cool, thats the same reason that kids that age dress the way they do now. Then when they grow up they grow out of their rebel/teenage fazes and thye learn what music sounds good and is cool at the same time.

Honey I've liked rap and r&b since 1982, since SugarHill, Kid Creole and The Time were around, and now I'm in my 30's listening to Jay Z and T Pain. What you like doesn't go away. You just "add" to your tastes.
