That when people are so ignorant & insecure about a subject for example greek philosophy (or anything else for that matter)that they become quite confused and closed minded, so much so that they are unwilling to learn? Is it that they are just stubborn and ignorant, and unwilling to learn something new?

I think it's fear and a lazy mind. The brain is like any muscle in the body; most people who don't workout or exercise are too afraid of pain and fatigue and are just plain lazy. The same can be said about thinking.

Kinda like, "I don't like the way I feel when I don't understand something, so I'm not going to try and understand it. And besides, it's a lot of work to try and understand "

Sad.

To learn something you have to have an open mind
A lot of people find that hard as it is an Ego thing what they know is what they know an even if black is white it is black to them and you can not change it
It is a lesson they have to learn it is where they need to be
