What would most Americans say is the most important invention of all time?

For a patriotic one, I would say the country itself because of its influence and because of it being the birthplace of many important inventions.

The potato growing out of the couch- The internet, the television, franchises, and the automobile to transfer said potato 1 mile to buy said items.

People who think really deep about history would probably conjure up the weapon (and inevitably, the gun) cause without those, people wouldn't have been able to conquer the (known) world (and assimilating multiple cultures together to form greater empires), get resources (to sustain said empires) or especially for Americans, start wars. (i mean the revolution)

Personally, i would say the invention of art. Without art, there are no stories to tell the future and inspire them to create other things. Art defines cultures and people and is the glue that keeps those people together. Many of the most sacred things in the world are pure works of art- and im not just talking about paintings. Many things are art-ideas, music, religions, and other things too.

But that's just my opinion. Cause im an Art student. =)
