As a conservative myself I would like to think no, but the current village idiot was elected twice and not by me either time! I didn't trust this creep from the moment I set eyes upon him and I'm still trying to figure out why others do. the only thing I can think of is he hates homosexuals and this is a glue for some who have to have someone to hate in order to be happy. As a Goldwater Republican, I'm sorry that we cannot row the boat in the same direction anymore! The liberal biased media isn't helping either misleading people intentionally!

I wouldn't say ignorant...just lazy. To research a candidate takes a little work. There is plenty of information out there to be found. I find most people end up voting against someone without ever really knowing where the person they are selecting stands on the issues. I'd rather someone uninformed just don't vote, that way they don't cancel out my informed vote.

Unfortunately ...YES ! Alot of the ignorance stems from a pervasive belief that voting doesn't really make a difference. Almost everyone I know believes that politicians are bought ...they don't care what the people/ state they are representing thinks.....SO why bother voting or learning anything about the potential representatives when you are certain that the election will be determined by whatever makes the most political sense at the time ( the biggest gain financially and career wise ) for the given Representative/ Politician.

it breaks my heart... most americans - for one reason or another - want simple answers and think in black and white.
more so than not, i observe americans taking their freedoms for granted - much less know their Constitution or the underpinnings of the Bill of Rights. too many americans have no idea what it means to be global citizens, much less step up and act responsibly as a superpower.
there is a growing intolerance against public debate and an overwhelming apathy towards voices of dissent.
i sometimes wonder if its a matter of leadership (or lack thereof)... but then i find out more than a quarter of americans do not even know where their country falls on an atlas! and their likely response to ignorance (said with a shrug and/ or a sheepish grin)? ...Ooops, I was never good at geography!

No I beg to differ, I think that the Internet is the greatest form of communication ever invented, I have so much faith in the self taught scholars who rank amongst the brightest and the best, meaning, never underestimate the power of the people.

i do no longer think of it somewhat is lack of awareness as much because it rather is having to form via an excellent variety of verbiage in an attempt to get some little kernal of actuality out of what's being conveyed by ability of others, basically to locate in the top there improve into rather no longer something nicely worth searching for in the 1st place. Take your question, as an occasion ....

Most don't vote whether they are informed or not. I am personally suffering from information discrepancies. One says this, the other says that. How do you know who is right anyway? I have my own opinion from what I've heard but how that will wash out in the future is anybody's guess.

Most Americans don't care about anything except who's winning American Idol or the latest "problems" of Lindsay Lohan.

USA is a breathing ground for ignorance. it is even hard to witness so much ignorance in the poorest countries in the world. the most informed voter only is informed of his or her own individual interest! one can't choose to laugh or cry witnessing such a reality! they are more informed about sports,Hollywood and the best ways to consume!

Judging from the last two elections I'd say definately. Especially when the topic of debate was "Who'd you most like to have a beer with?"
