I currently have Vernon Davis but Chris Cooley is on the waiver wire. I feel like Davis has a lot of upside but hasn't shown much this year. Should I swap him for Cooley?

I couldn't agree with you more on Vernon Davis' upside, but I have been pretty disappointed myself with his fantasy stats. San Francisco's offense does not seem to utilize the TE as a "go-to" option, especially considering when you have a player like Davis.

Pick up Cooley for now and use Davis as trade bait, or let him grow into a more consistent player on your bench before starting him again. Its not his fault that he's not getting the ball, but don't let his potential and upside keep you from dropping him. If he's not scoring, then you're not either.

Would it be possible to drop someone less valuable for Cooley? It would be ideal to have both if possible. Cooley may be more consistent but Davis still has a lot of upside just to drop him even though he isn't producing much right now.

Which is weird. A good, big, athletic, tight end (Davis) is usually an overrated, not-so-good, developing (Smith) quarterback's best friend.

Go figure.

Cooley is money. How is he available?

I would somehow try to hold them both until you need the roster room for bye moves. Davis is too nuclear to cut.
