It's totally normal to worry that it could be a false positive. Absolutely positively totally normal. In fact, the nurse practitioner who confirmed my pregnancy said that she always asks how many pregnancy tests someone takes before their visit with her.
If it's any comfort to you, I took two the first morning, one in the afternoon the following day and one the day after, for a total of four before my appointment with the NP.
Take another one in the morning and follow up with your health care provider who can confirm the pregnancy and help you get what care you need.

Most chemical pregnancies are detected way before your missed period - mine showed positive with a hormone level of 15 (using a First Response Early Test) - I know my hormone levels were 15, because I went to the hospital a few hours later and they did a beta test - well unfortunatly, I lost the baby while implantation and my body expelled the pregnancy when I would have been about 6 1/2 weeks. I have alot of previous posts and alot of kind people helped me look into it, if you would like to go read mine :) god bless and If you missed your period already, that means you're farther along and the chances are now a bit less that you will miscarry!!

Pregnancy tests do not come up falsely positive often at all. Birth control pills do not cause false positives in pregnancy tests, the tests detect HCG, not estrogen and progesterone. If you got a positive pregnancy test, you are 99.99 percent pregnant. Congratulations! Test again tomorrow and go to the doctor. Just don't stress. You'll have a lot easier time keeping a healthy pregnancy if you just relax and don't worry!

I had a false positive pregnancy test a few months ago. I was excited, felt pregnant and everything. I started my period a week late. I was told it could have been an embryo that wouldn't attach. However, the great news is now I am 9 weeks pregnant. I took three pregnancy tests just to make sure. I always thought a positive was a positive. Good luck! Baby dust to you!

Just relax, take a deep breath. Wait a day or 2 and then go see your doctor. Home tests are usually accurate but not always. Go to your doctor, it's the only way to be 100% sure and not stressed about the possibility! Good Luck!!!

I tested later that same day I think. You should never get a false positive on a HPT. (at least thats what I have heard). Its possible to get a fasle negative but not a false positive. Again I don't know the reasoning behind this but have heard its true.
Good luck!

if you really need to then go ahead and retest first thing in the morning using the same brand of test but a positive is a positive so I would just go for the blood test to confirm so you know for sure.

you rarely will get a false positive test!! Go ahead if you need to and test again, but I would just go to the docs....make sure everything is ok especially since you ave been on Birth control! Good luck and congrats!!

You can only get a false negative, NEVER a false positive, since the hormone that detects pregnancy is not present UNLESS you're pregnant. Relax...you'll be fine and congrats!

I don't think there is such a thing as a false positive, you either have the pregnancy hormone... or you don't. And if you don't, the test can't read it.... even the faintest of positive marks still is positive, so the degree of the color shouldn't matter.
Make a doctor's appt and best of luck to you. =)
