No, it is not wrong. Even if they have nothing in common, it is still alright and depends on just how well they get along. It depends on how well they accept each other.

Why do birds of the same feather flock together?
= Philosophically speaking, the birds are a representation of people who have similar, habits, values, interests, and goals, or those who have a lack of them.
The reason that people often seek friends of similar character to themselves, is so that they can justify there actions in life, whether good, bad, or indifferent, and they can feel accepted by others for that for which they have become, whether knowingly, or unknowingly.
Is it wrong if birds of DIFFERENT feather flock together?
= No, it is not wrong, so long as those people are comfortable with themselves, and not seeking acceptance by the people they are mingling with.
If fact I would say that those who are capable of being friends to all, and getting to know others of different character may possibly have many friends indeed.
Although I must point out to you that it is very important to take care of yourself, and take great pains, and caution, as there is another saying that goes like this.
We become like the company we keep.
Although in reverse, if you are careful, you will not become like the company you keep, but perhaps they will become like you.

I'm not sure if anybody other than myself and you knows that this is a proverb. It simply means that races, cultures and so on hang out together.
Its not wrong of different birds to flock together, because if that didn't happen, we would call it racism...

Senator McCain seems awfully friendly with Bush...Does that make him a lying idiot too? Our founding fathers created the bill of rights for times like these. The knew that they couldn't predict the future, so they established INALIENABLE rights. Bush and his crones have abolished Habius Corpus and the right to free speech. They are spying on Americans on the pretense of "fighting terrorism", if they are so worried about terrorism, why are our borders and our ports still not secure? I'm so sick of republicans drinking what ever Kool-Aide their politicians feed them. Wake up and do some research for once!

Generally it's for species survival. Any bird (or, for that matter, many other animals with similar socializing characteristics) that tries to flock with them is also in competition for survival resources and, as a result, they get run off fairly quickly.

That's a tough question because all birds fly. Sometimes when unlike birds flock together they enjoy their flight, but not as much as if they matched together. Being matched lessens the effort of compromise.
