the resulting bubble contains a scent, but no sound?
of course, the formation of the bubbles is audible, but when it opens into the air, the scent is in tact, but the sound is gone?
and then what of speaking under water?
when being held under water and i say "please release my head", no sound comes out of the bubbles produced by my lungs.

The sound is muffled but quite audible at the source of the explosion thus it is not encapsulated in the aroma bubble because it [the bubble and frat]contains no echoing properties

The flatus noise and the speech sounds (ie, soundwaves) are absorbed and dissipated through that medium before reaching the surface of the water. The expelled gas of the flatus, and the air supporting the speech are expelled as bubbles, and carry the odor and breath-scent to the surface.

The sound is from the movement the anus makes. So under the water the sound is muffled. The air that reaches the top of the water is not what makes the sound.

It's the inherent nature of bubbles to be secretive, and they therefore will not repeat any words or sounds once they are released into the air.
In short, the bubbles think they are doing you a favor by remaining silent.

because the sound doesn't travel with the air. the speed of sound is greater than the speed the bubbles travel to the top. do you not hear the blurp of the bubble formation?

What is a flatus? Is it a fart? I do that a lot in my bath time and believe me when the bubbles reach the top the scent is a killer and the sound is wall shattering...

It's because bubbles are happy things, and while they can not help which air they are created with, they can decide what sound they make. Cries for help are not happy sounds.

I must admit to farting in the bath years ago but never smelled the popping bubbles and had no idea you could still smell them! But then again, my farts are usually odourless, unlike my sister's. They are silent and deadly! lol

I'd love to tell you but they made me promise not to or they will send me back to the quiet room. I don't like the quiet room. Someone chewed all the buttons off the padded walls.
