Depends on what you determine as "need". You can live without testicles. They can replace the testosterone (HRT) that will certainly decrease. But, if you are just wondering of you need testicles, and answer is no. But, if you want children, there's no replacement for sperm.
You also need them to feel emotionally balanced or have sexual desires.
I hope this answers some of your questions. You can always talk to a endocrinologist or urologist.

If you mean that figuratively speaking then yes you need balls to be a man, but if you mean literally is it necessary to have testicles to be a man, then no. Think of military service men who have been shot in the groin, are they any less of a man because they took a bullet in the wrong place?

Nope. All you need is a Y chromosome.
Some people don't even have that, and still identify as a man.
You only need testicles if you intend to reproduce.
Male cats are still male even after being neutered (during which they have their testicles removed).

Without testicles, men would have no testosterone production, so their secondary male characterisics would disappear. Men who have had testicular cancer and have had them removed will usually have testosterone replacement therapy - a shot every couple of months.
