It's hard to end a relationship without the other person taking it badly. It's best to be direct and tell him it's just not working out for you and maybe both of you. Let him down easy and put a new spin on the old "it's not you it's me" line. Try to give him that out, that makes him save face a little bit. It's a difficult situation, but it seems that getting out is something that you have determined is right for yourself so you should just set your mind on it and get it done. If he is mature enough he'll accept it and move on. Good luck!!
