I was told about this movie a couple of months ago, all I know is that apparently there's a scene where a character points out that angels (according to the Bible) are not fairy-like beings (which was the first impression people got).
Sorry for how vague it is, but that's all I know.

I don't know about the "punishment" part, but there is a series about the "War In Heaven" between the angels who want to destroy mankind vs. the ones who side with God and want to save them. It's THE PROPHECY and THE PROPHECY 2, both starring Christopher Walken.
