My catalytic converter just got stolen in front of my house. I live in a middle income area but am afraid it will get stolen again. Any ideas how to make it a little more dificult to steal it?

Don't know what type of car you have but it sounds crazy that
someone would actually take your cat conv....Such being the case when you have it replaced simply have it spot welded into place once it is installed, this will deter the cat thieves

I understand that this is becoming a big problem across the country. The thieves are stealing it for the precious metals that are inside and scrapping the metal out.

An alarm system may be some help, if it has a shock sensor on it. Since it has been stolen, you might try fitting a test pipe on it and doing away with the converter. If your city doesn't have the emission testing then there would be no problem.

good luck and sorry about your loss.

How do you know it was stolen? Did someone just say Hey sounds like someone stole your Cat. When you get the new one installed, have the shop put some tac welds on the seam of the cat. This will prevent the cat from being stolen with normal tools.

i could have it welded in alongside with any added pipe that is mandatory. those Cats value lots and you don't prefer a clamp to come back unfastened and inflicting the cat to fall off and get broken. Get a quote from a smaller keep midas and others like it could charge too lots.

you could lower the car and or put a body kit on it so it is harder to fit a person under there and or get a high sensor alarm that when they get to close to it it will go off .....that is the first time of that ever happening maybe they needed 1 for the same car u had

You should post some information about how it was removed. Obviously that's not an easy thing to steal to begin with, and it coudl easily be welded on, but it might have been welded on to begin with.

You might also park in the garage. Take all the junk that's in the garage to the dump.
