What would I have to do to ship a guitar through the mail?

I recommend shipping a guitar via US Parcel Service rather than the Post Office. Put your instrument in a durable case and then place it in a large cardboard box surrounded with padding or shipping peanuts.

Take out shipping insurance and let UPS take it from there. Chances are strong it will reach its destination undamaged.
