No idea what OS you have, but this is a common problem with some games that are resource hungry. This is particularly true if you are running 98 SE. If so, shut down everything but explorer and systray. Many of the items in your tool bar have exit buttons if you right click on them. The rest will have to be closed with the three finger salute. For those in Reolinda, that is the control key, alt and delete keys.

No clue what kind of specs your PC is holding so I suggest you make sure you meet the "recommended specifications" on the gamebox. If you don't plan on upgrading your computer to do so or you already do, then clear up any other programs you have running before you start FEAR. AIM, MSN, Itunes and Steam are just a few programs that run in the backround if you forget to exit them.

This game is prob.. to much for your PC...go to options and turn some of the features down or off.
If you have the money, you should upgrade your memory and video card. Its worth it.
