Of the four, Dominik Hasek
Of the first pair.............Dominik Hasek.
Dominik Hasek is one of the best goalies in any era.
- Hasek has 6 Vezinas, Barrasso has 1 (Hasek has more Vezina votes in history than any other goaltender including Roy and Brodeur)
- Hasek has been a post-season NHL all-star 6 times (all first team), Barrasso has 3
- Hasek has been in 7 all-star games, Barrasso 1
- Hasek has an Olympic Gold Medal, Barrasso 0
- Hasek has 2 World Championship Gold Medals, Barrasso 0
- Hasek has a shutout every 9.1 games (11th in NHL history, tops among players since 1980), Barrasso had one every 20.6.
- Barrasso has 2 Stanley Cup Rings (in 2 tries), Hasek has 1 in 3 tries
- Hasek has a higher winning percentage
- Hasek has the highest save percentage in NHL history
Of the second pair........Johnny Bower, but was a closer decision
Bower has 2 Vezinas, Giacomin has 1
Bower has 4 Stanley Cup rings, Giacomin has 0
Bower's career GAA is 2.52, Giacomin's is 2.82
Giacomin has 54 shutouts, Bower has 37
Giacomin played in 6 All-Star games, Bower played in 4 (although to be fair, Bower played in an era where only 3 goalies played...not 6)
Bower led the league in GAA 4x, Giacomin never did

Hasek by a mile. Look at save pct. You put Hasek on those Pens team and we'd be talking Oiler/Hab dynasty.
Ditto Bower. Get the Hockey Compendium (go to amazon and figure it out).

Hasek is better. Both players had no help when they were playing in Buffalo, but Hasek has a better style and can literally steal a game for any team that he plays. Barrasso is a good goalie but not better than Hasek.

Dominik Hasek might be the best NHL goalie -- for a given game or season -- of all time. I don't know if he's the best for a career, as Sawchuk and Roy have some good arguments -- but he's close and would be closer had it not been for his time in Europe.
Barrasso was merely the best 18-year-old goalie ever, and had a good, but not spectacular career. Johnny Bower got his chance late as well, as he was stuck in the minors, but he was pretty good in the clutch and played quite a while. Ed Giacomin was pretty good, but I never thought of him as a clear Hall of Famer during his career.
