Well... let's look at the facts...

The Panthers five years prior to his coming: Records of 7-9, 4-12, 8-8,7-9, 1-15. (no playoff appearances)

His five years coaching the Panthers: Records of 7-9, 11-5 (Super Bowl loss), 7-9, 11-5 (Conference Championship loss), 8-8.

So in his five years he took a team that only once posted a better than .500 average to a Super Bowl and a Conference Championship Game. I'd say that was a decent turn-around.

But then on the flip side, the year that he was available was the same year that Tony Dungy went to Indy and we see how well he's done there, so I'd say he was definitely better than what you had with Siefert (even though Siefert had just won two Superbowls with the 49'ers) but you could have done better. All-in-all he was a move in the right direction, but honestly you don't have the talent in Carolina yet to have the Head Coach be the "last ingredient" to win. Looking at last year's schedule, the only quality opponent that I see that they beat was the Ravens.

The best signs I see for Carolina turning it around is at least they are putting points up on the board this year (you can thank new offensive co-ordinator Jeff Davidson for this: 27 and 21 so far in the first two games) and they have a strength-of-schedule in the bottom third of the league.

Delhomme has looked decent, even good so far this year, but you don't have to go back far (last year) to find an offense that finished 24th in the league in total offense, even with Steve Smith.

I think the Panthers will sink or swim based on Delhomme rather than Fox.

... and I wouldn't put too much into Cowher... watch the clip linked below for his interview with KDKA regarding coaching.

I am thinking the team did not performed very well this week and last week. I don't think it is the John Fox's fault, it just that the team did not do well, the coverage was not good, too many mistakes, and the defensive from the opponent team stopped the Carolina Panthers from scoring.
