ah..........the last name needs to be the same as yours.
If your dad or mom have the last name the same as you.....then that is the last name. and visa versa.
Is there a dad in the picture? are you a single mom?
My daughter had a baby girl without the genetic dad caring much so that baby has my daughters last name. Now that my daughter is in a long term relationship her second baby's last name is his dad's last name. They are now expecting a girl and they will use the dad's last name. If they were no longer different were together the baby would have her name. Wow that is confusing.

Sometimes I wish that when my mom divorced my dad, she had gone back to her maiden name and changed my name to that too, or at least with a hypen. So my last name would have been ( granted its long) Ludescher or Ludescher-Richter. However, mom kept us both Richter's. I'm fine with that NOW but years ago I didn't like it. So If i ever changed my name I would change it to Laura Ludescher-Richter.

I wouldn't place my mother's last name anywhere in my name. In a "cocky" moment back 28 years ago, I put my mother's last name before my father's last name, just as a mockery to women who did so, and have regretted it ever since. I did that on a Master's Degree I got. I never show that degree anywhere, and I'll regret when my hostility-turned-mockery comes back to haunt me later in life. God Bless you.

i think it is personal and really depends on what u think but i have met people who have had the mom's name in front of dad's name. in this case i also think the mom's last name should go first because it sounds better.

yes i guess so. I think in some states it can go either way..but depending on where you live, it goes First name,Middle name or maternal last name, then paternal last name,
