I do, and I know it's probably irrational, but I hate to be cold. I want to hibernate and not leave the house again until spring.

We have mild winters here, so I'm sure it's just a phobia. In the past 7 years, we've hardly had measurable snowfalls.

Winter - snow the great equalizer, when all things ugly are hidden beneath a blanket of pristine white, when the sun sparkles like diamonds across a snowy mantle, when birds look like balls of fluffy feathers gathered around the feeders, cold crisp air thats exhilerating and energizing, clear starry nights when you feel as if you can reach out and grab a handful of stardust, northern lights dancing and singing, warm cozy fires, cuddled up under soft wooly throws with a good book, cozy sweaters, I love the winter clothing, furry mittens, hot wine, cocoa with marshmallows bobbing on top, home made soups and stews, the dry crunch of the snow when you walk on it, snowmen popping up all over the school yard and down the street, impromptu snowball fights, nothing feels as good as hitting your boss in the face with a snowball and if he/she objects then they are just a bad sport !

No lawns to mow, no sprinklers to put out, no trees to prune, candles in the window, long hot bubble baths again, sitting in the hot tub aka spa with the steam rising around you, snow flakes landing on your head, jumping out rolling in the snow, jumping back in again - with a whole lot of skrieking (sp?) going on, floating a snifter of brandy in the hot tub to keep it warm and aromatic --

I used to live across the street from a church and when the snow was falling and the stain glass windows were glowing, it was pure magic. It was an older neighbourhood, with trees growing down the meridian, which were covered with snow too -- at the end of the street there was a house that had an entrance foyer with a two storey window and every year they put a xmas tree there that must have been about 12 feet tall, what a gorgeous site that was.

I always hated winter and being cold until this year. For the 1st time ever, I'm actually looking forward to it. We had over 60 days of 90 & some 100 degree days this summer and it was miserable. We don't get much snow, just a few ice storms. I'll just stay in with a nice hot chocolate those days. I'm actually happy I don't have to dread winter anymore. I can enjoy fall-which I love, so much more.

I can't wait for the winter!

I live in Southern California, you know, home of hot, hot, hot, summers. We've been up well over 100 degrees for several weeks and have just begun to cool down (right now that means mid 90's +).

Being a native of the midwest, I am accustomed to great fall weather and a slow slide into snow. We had snow here earlier this spring, for all of 1 or 2 minutes, this is the second time since I've lived here that we have had snow.

It'll be cool for the winter, but not that bad.

I LIKE winter. The funny thing is that I've never learned to ski. And I can't afford a snowmobile.

When I was a kid I skated and tobogganed my way through each and every winter. Until my ankles ached so badly from the cold that I just couldn't skate another step. And I grew so cold from tobogganing that I could barely walk.

Then it would be into the house for hot cocoa and a half hours break in the warmth...searching for a dry pair of mitts, and then back out into the snow again...building forts and having snowball fights.

I taught my daughters how to enjoy winter. Introduced them to taking steep forested hills in airplane inner tubes--now that is a riot!

My grandsons will only do the forts and snowball fights. They categorically REFUSE to learn how to skate. And tobogganing scares them. WHEN did my family turn into wimps?

No, I don't dread it. Some of the best times I have ever experienced were in areas that were about 50 to 60 below in the winter. I loved it. Peace, quiet and very few people. I lived in the Yukon for a while and wish I were there today.

Do not like cold! It makes me ache more than usual. When I left NJ and moved to FL, I swore I'd never live again in a state where it snowed. Now I guess I'm stuck in WI with a hubby who loves the cold and isn't about to move. But that's OK, I'll just keep praying for another move at some point to a place with more even temperatures.

yep - i really hate even thinking about it. didn't use to mind it, but since my heart attacks and the damage from them, my old ticker just ain't what it used to be and i am forever cold. in the summer i can't take the heat and humidity that we have here in Illinois, and the winters are brutal. i also had my car battery freeze one year - as a matter of fact, there was not one car in my family's "fleet" that would start - and some of them were inside of the garage.

i just bundle up in layers of clothes and then a throw and don't go out unless i ABSOLUTELY have to !!
i am dreading it already - maybe we should all go look up Goldwing sounds pretty nice where he is - not too hot and not too cold.

It gets cold in February here, in the teens and 20"s, but rarely does it snow. If I want snow, I can drive to the western part of the state or go to North Carolina.

I do love the change of seasons. It is the one thing I missed living in South Florida. I don't miss shoveling snow like I did in the Midwest or in Boston.

Yes I dread the winter too. Iritadragon just described my childhood in winter. It used to get so cold ,our mitts would be frozen stiff and my mom would let us sit by the oven to get warm and then out we would go again! It's the shovelling of snow I hate and when you are almost done, the plough comes by and fills the driveway in with 3 feet of ice and snow!

I dread the winter for other people. I'll be on the beach in January having a Corona.

I moved to Miami 5 years ago, you see!
