It's kept alot of neo-christians voting republican over the past 20 years. It might be a little easier to lead them astray, of course, but that it is the reason many gave for voting republican. I still know a few who will continue voting republican because they believe that republicans are the lesser of two evils.
Personally, I view the two parties as the "sinner" party (democrats) and the "pharisee" party (republicans). That being understood, if I were voting for a party, (which I never have and never will) it would be the sinner party because everyone knows how ruthless and hypocritical those pharisees are.

Either of these arguments would do it for me:
1) The democrats are more fiscally responsible. (Which is something you NEVER hear - the republicans like to pretend they're the fiscally responsible ones - but history says otherwise; the national debt shoots up under every republican administration)
2) The democrats plan to do something about the health care crisis; the republicans just want to wait for the "free market" to solve it (which doesn't work in the case of health care, for obvious reasons). Last attempt to do so: privatizing part of Medicare. Result: 12% higher costs than the government providing the privatized services.

I live in Liberal NY State where even the Republicans are Libs, and we have an awful economy, terrible schools, and the highest taxes in the country. Our Limousine Liberal governor plans to fix that by eliminating my Star tax credit (but he's not raising taxes...whatever), and increasing government programs, as if we don't have enough now. I do not get this mentality. The man has hundreds of millions and he honestly believes that people who make over 90K should pay more. He has no concept of what is going on in the world, and he's going to fix it through taxes and more government? They're out of their minds. People are leaving because of the taxes! That means the rest of us have to pay more which leads to more people leaving. Why can't these Rich Liberal fools understand this? Because they have never lived it.

If they run the campaign on how bad Bush and the PNAC crowd is, and point out the way Bush lied to link 9/11 to the PNAC-4-Iraq plan, that should end the GOP for decades. The GOP single issue of gay marriage worked for them. That is proof this will be equally effective.
I think we have seen the toe-tapping GOP go the way of the dinosaur.

They're in a tough position. Anything they come up with that may appeal to moderate, dissatisfied, mainstream voters in '08 (those that decide elections) will likely be considered a sell-out by their left-wing, MoveOn, nut wing, money base. So.. they're kind kind of frozen now .. like a deer in headlights. Afraid to say anything.

No one is better that the other one.
I try something else: I don't choose any of the 2 evils.
