there are 2 more neutrons in the atomic nucleus of carbon 14, and it is unstable (radioactive)

C-12 is the stable atom with 6 protons, 6 neutrons and 6 electrons.
C-14 is unstable ..i.e. a radioactive isotope and has the same as C-12, PLUS 2 extra neutrons...(the radioactive part).
