it will do that if it gets too hot. you can stop it by adding more fans to keep it cool.

I agree with Kristi, because while many things, including viruses can cause unexpected shutdowns, it most often is due to overheating.
Check your fans to ensure they are still working properly, plugged in firmly, and clean out your case and all parts with a air can. You can purchase an aircan from any hardware or office supply store.
Good luck and have a nice evening.

These are usually due to hardware errors such as overheating (are your fans running, your vents free of dust & debris and your computer internals not caked with dust & debris?), memory mismatch or chips going bad, hard drive failing. Really, there are several possibilities but my guess would be overheating.

In Layman's terms, it's could be a virus or you have one or more programs trying to access the same memory location. Start by going to: www.housecall.trendmicro.com and do a complete (free) online virus scan. If that doesn't work. Try cleaning your system with CCleaner. If that doesn't work, send me an email at: mrcnblue@yahoo.com and I will walk you through the rest...

If it suddenly shuts down then its SMPS (power supply) problem. you may get it repaired it from a technician or may buy a new one which will come with 1 year warranty. before you go for repair check if power supply cord if loose and you are not kicking it or moving it with legs when u r working on it. best way to find loose conenction is power on ur pc and try to move the cables randomly.

In addition to the harddware/software driver problems mentioned, I've seen computers do this if there are problems with the hardware (mainly bad capacitors on motherboards).

Sounds like you might have an overheating problem, or bad RAM. Check for bad RAM first with a program that will test your memory cards, then check for overheating with one that will monitor your PC systems, including temp and fan speeds. Google for these!
