Its supposed to be going thru a renaissance, the downtown and east side are nice. But the rest of the city is still crummy. Its poor and has high crime rate, its one of the 10 poorest cities over 100,000 in the US according to the us census. Why is it so bad there? The rest of new england is in far better of shape

I LOVE Providence! My husband is born and raised 2nd generation from Warren RI. We're there twice a year. Federal Hill has some of the best restaurants in New England. But sadly there is a lot of crime... My father in law had his car broken into. And while we were having a beautiful meal outside on federal hill one evening you could hear distant gunshots, a scream, and sirens... there were 3 deaths in Providence that night. :(

I thought Providence was alright. One of my friends in Ohio, a Black woman, worked as a nanny in Providence, and now for some reason she is back in Ohio living with her mom, and her attitude is: "What in hell am I doing back here?"
